Bamako Rejects AU’s Claims of 'Jihadist Blockade', FM Says
The AU is reviving a narrative aimed at destabilizing Mali, Abdoulaye Diop stated.
“There is no blockade. There are certainly obstacles to the supply of petroleum products,” he said.
The organization lacked rigor in analyzing Mali’s security situation, Diop added.
However, the minister welcomed the AU’s call for urgent international action to end the growing insecurity in the country.
At the same time, Bamako “is not seeking aid from the so-called international community” to come to its rescue, he emphasized.
“Over the past ten years, Mali has experienced the presence of several thousand international forces, which did not meet the aspirations of Malians,” Diop stressed.
