US potential invasion of Venezuela could become ‘NEW VIETNAM’
Although a scenario of the US invading Venezuela is possible, it’s “highly doubtful” that America would be able to gain a foothold there, Brazilian analyst and retired Navy officer Robinson Farinazzo told Sputnik.
Farinazzo suggested that the scenario could turn into a “new Vietnam” for the US, referring to the 1955–1975 Vietnam War.
Explaining his position, the analyst noted that Venezuela is a large country with a population of many millions, a sizable militia and a well-armed regular army.
The USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier strike group earlier arrived in the Caribbean Sea amid the US’ rising tensions with Venezuela.
