Disputed Area Between Sudan & South Sudan: UNISFA Mandate Extended for One YearOn Friday, the UN Security Council extended the mandate of the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) until 15 November 2026. The council also urged Sudan and South Sudan to strengthen cooperation to advance peace, particularly regarding implementation of the Juba Peace Agreement and the high‑level talks held in August 2021.ℹ Oil-rich Abyei remains controlled by Sudan yet contested by South Sudan.
