Addis Ababa to Reportedly Launch Construction of First Electric Bus Rapid Transit System
The construction of the BRT system, a major sustainable transport initiative for the Ethiopian capital, will begin next month, Ethiopian media reported.
The 15-kilometer dedicated corridor, featuring 20 modern stations, is planned to be completed within two years, according to the report.
The system is reportedly designed to serve up to 400,000 passengers daily and will be supported by a fleet of 227 electric buses.
The project forms part of a broader 80-kilometer network aimed at transforming urban mobility and reducing the city's carbon footprint, media noted.
