Only One Legitimate Government Exists in Sudan, Backed by Sudanese People, Politician Tells Sputnik
The war in Sudan has not subsided in intensity since it was ignited by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) with regional and international support in April 2023, according to the head of Sudan's New Justice and Equality Movement, General Mansour Arbab.
"The world has witnessed the horrific violations committed by the RSF since the conflict began, the latest of which are war crimes, crimes against humanity, and two acts of ethnic cleansing against the [civilian population] of El Fasher," Arbab told Sputnik.
Talks of two governments existing in Sudan are untrue, the politician emphasized, asserting the Sudanese people and international community recognize only the government of Khartoum.
"No other government within Sudan's borders would be recognized by any respectable party," concluded the leader of the armed movement that is assisting the Sudanese Armed Forces in their war against the RSF rebels.
In mid-August, the RSF announced the formation of a parallel administration, including the appointment of a prime minister and a presidential council.
This announcement by the rebels drew strong condemnation from the legitimate Sudanese government and the international community, including the UN and the AU.
