Egypt Returns 36 Illegally Smuggled Artifacts from US
The recovery of these artifacts demonstrates Egypt’s strong dedication to protecting its heritage, Tourism Minister Sherif Fathy emphasized in a statement.
The artifacts, comprising Roman-era items, 24 rare manuscripts, and an 18th Dynasty colored plaster panel, will be displayed at the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square.
He praised the productive collaboration between Egyptian and American institutions, which reflects a growing global recognition of the importance of fighting the illegal trade in cultural and archaeological items.
