The first surgeries under the major humanitarian initiative are already underway at Kenyatta National Hospital, according to Kenya's First Lady Rachel Ruto.

The joint program, launched by the First Lady and Morocco's Princess Lalla Asmaa, brings together medical teams from both countries to perform cochlear implant surgeries.

"As a mother, I am moved by what this means for our children’s futures," said First Lady Ruto. "This project restores more than hearing, it restores potential, learning, and connection."

The initiative also includes training for Kenyan healthcare professionals to ensure long-term sustainability, marking the beginning of an ongoing partnership between the two African nations, said Dr. Richard Lesiyampe, CEO of Kenyatta National Hospital.
