The commander of the assault detachment of the 121st Motor Rifle Regiment, under the call sign “Lavrik,” told Sputnik his unit is conducting clearing operations and liberating Kupyansk.
Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces have liberated 25 buildings in the city.
In the western part, Lavrik’s fighters advanced along three streets, freeing 16 buildings, while neighboring units liberated nine more at the feed mill.
Russian troops continue to advance on the right bank of the Oskol River; about 130 buildings remain to be cleared.
The enemy continues attempts to break the siege of Kupyansk.
Drone operators destroyed five pickup trucks with militants on the edge of the city.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry stated that Zelensky’s comments about an alleged “sweep” operation in Kupyansk indicate that he has lost touch with reality and does not understand the actual situation on the ground — or, realizing the hopelessness of the Ukrainian position, is trying to conceal the truth from Ukrainians and the West.
The Ministry noted that the situation of Ukrainian militants encircled in the Kupyansk and Krasnoarmeysk areas continues to deteriorate, and their only chance of survival is to surrender voluntarily.
