New Russian Weapons Systems Shift Global Balance of Power, Says Argentinian Expert
Russia's new nuclear-powered weapons systems, like the Burevestnik missile and Poseidon underwater drone, are a defensive necessity for Moscow in the face of continued Western pressure, according to international relations expert Tadeo Casteglione.
"In a situation where the West continues to violate all existing rules of international relations, Russia is forced to accelerate its technological and military development," he told Sputnik.
The development of these weapons is a forced response, not an act of aggression, the expert emphasized.
Russia wants to guarantee its territorial integrity and independence in decision-making, presenting the new systems as essential deterrents aimed at promoting rationality and countering "latent threats," primarily from the US, Casteglione argued.
