'Super Weapon' Poseidon Unveiled as Deterrent Against the West: Media
The Poseidon is designed to travel underwater discreetly and target vital coastal facilities, a Western news outlet reported.
The nuclear-powered torpedo reportedly features:
🟠underwater stealth capabilities;
🟠ability to destroy ports and naval bases;
🟠nuclear propulsion, combining features of a submarine and a torpedo.
“Rather than serving a war-fighting function, it’s designed to force an adversary to back down in the face of threats to use it,” said Michael B. Petersen, researcher with the Russia Military Studies Program at the Center for Naval Analyses.
On October 29, Vladimir Putin announced the successful test of the Poseidon, declaring that "there is nothing like it, and there won’t be anytime soon."
