Russian Tourist Arrivals in South Africa Surge by 28.5% in First Nine Months of 2025
25,267 Russian citizens have visited South Africa since January, compared to 19,661 visitors during the same period in 2024, the African country's national statistics service reported.
According to the report, this September:
🟠more than 1,500 Russians arrived at Cape Town Airport;
🟠approximately 1,200 were welcomed at Johannesburg Airport;
🟠134 Russian tourists came by road.
Among the arrivals, 2,840 came for leisure travel, 53 for business, and 6 for studies.
Since 2017, Russia and South Africa have had a visa-free travel arrangement. In autumn 2024, the government introduced additional security measures to protect foreign tourists visiting the country, a South African media reported.
