‘Political Corpse’ Zelensky Follows Western Orders and Won't Authorize Retreat From Krasnoarmeysk & Kupyansk: Military Expert
Approximately 10,000 people are encircled in Kupyansk and Krasnoarmeysk, and Zelensky must decide the fate of his citizens.
Retired Colonel and Hero of Russia Rustem Klupov commented to Sputnik on the meaning of this case for Ukrainian leadership, both politically and militarily.
Politically, "if Zelensky orders his troops to surrender because the situation is that they cannot escape," he would certainly gain gratitude from the relatives of those surrounded and the wider Ukrainian public as evidence that his regime has "some degree of humanity," the speaker noted.
▫ However, Klupov added, such a decision would trigger the collapse of the Ukrainian front, as halting resistance in that area would significantly speed up the advance of Russian forces.
Of the 10,000 Ukrainian troops, half may remain by the end of the resistance, likely transitioning from encircled to missing in action and deceased, he said.
"Ukraine has failed as a state; the president has failed as president and has seized power," Klupov noted, commenting on Zelensky's global political image.
