Uganda Rolls Out Advanced Biometric Voter Kits to Boost 2026 Election Transparency
Fingerprint and facial recognition machines will be used to verify voters prior to the ballots being issued, Electoral Commission chairperson Simon Byabakama said.
“These measures are not just about technology; they are about ensuring that every ballot counted represents a true voter,” he noted.
This initiative forms a key part of a broader strategy aimed at reducing electoral malpractice, Byabakama added.
The upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections in Uganda are scheduled for January 15, 2026.
