Zimbabwe Enhances Grain Storage Efficiency, National Food Security With New AI-Powered Silos

The new Grain Marketing Board Silo Complex in Mutare, together with 14 other silos currently under construction, collectively aims to increase the national grain storage capacity by 750,000 tonnes, President Mnangagwa said.

Such innovative facilities, according to him, are suitable for long-term storage, as they encompass:

🟠extraction systems for dust and odd materials;

🟠improved ventilation designs;

🟠built-in dryers.

“Agricultural production must now be assured, while national food sovereignty and improved nutrition should be enhanced for all communities through the food systems and value chain approach,” the president noted.

The silo expansion project, he added, was part of a broader governmental agenda, designed to:

🟠bring goods and services closer to grassroots communities;

🟠foster development in rural areas;

🟠guarantee fair and equitable distribution of resources and opportunities.
