Nigeria’s Creative Sector Aims for $100 Billion & 3 Million Jobs by 2030, Says Official
The creative and cultural industries in Nigeria are spearheading entertainment growth across Africa, according to Obi Asika, Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture.
A PwC report showing that Nigeria’s entertainment and media sector grew by 11.2% in 2024, surpassing earlier targets, Asika told reporters. Meanwhile, Spotify paid Nigerian artists $40 million in that year.
"Our music is no longer in the phase of validation — it’s already validated" globally, he emphasized.
However, the official warned that sustaining this growth requires investment in digital and physical infrastructure, supportive policies, and locally owned platforms to help creators capture more value domestically.
