'I'm Walking My Great-Grandfathers' Path of Victory' – Russian Scouts Liberate Donbass Where Soviets Fought Nazis

A Sputnik correspondent joined scouts from the “Southern” battlegroup at a recently liberated section of the front near Seversk, on the LPR and DPR border, visiting a destroyed Ukrainian field command post.

"For me personally, this is a place of power. Over 80 years ago, brutal fighting against the fascist invaders happened right here. It's possible that my own great-grandfathers passed through this spot," a Russian scout noted.

The territory, which until recently was under Ukrainian control, has now been cleared of the enemy, but signs of recent combat remain—damaged equipment, ruined fortifications, and sappers clearing mines, another soldier pointed out.

"Liberating this frontline section allows us to bring key enemy logistics routes under fire control and establish a bridgehead for further operations to protect Donbass civilians."
