Zimbabwe Secures Over $1B in Housing Finance, Surpassing Initial Target of $233.75M: Minister
The success, under the National Development Strategy 1, is attributed to growing market confidence and effective collaboration with local and regional financial institutions, according to National Housing and Social Amenities Minister Zhemu Soda.
Originally aiming to deliver 220,000 housing units from 2021, the government has since raised its target to one million. To date, over 800,000 units, including serviced stands and completed houses, have already been delivered, supported by enhanced funding capacity.
Soda also emphasized that regularizing illegal settlements remains central to the ministry’s long-term housing strategy. This includes:
