Africa Ready for Electric Future, Rwandan E-Mobility Company Representative Says
The success of the Road to Addis journey — a six-day, 1,600-kilometer electric journey from Nairobi to Addis Ababa — is more than just a milestone — it’s proof that “electric vehicles can handle African roads.”
That’s according to Elisa Karangwa, a representative of Kabisa, a Rwandan e-mobility company building a regional ecosystem spanning EV sales, charging infrastructure, and maintenance services.
Speaking to Sputnik Africa on the sidelines of the Africa E‑Mobility Week, Karangwa said the trip demonstrated that electric vehicles are “efficient, fast, and they can support both businesses and individuals who want to go electric.”
Karangwa added that the next step for companies like Kabisa is identifying where to expand charging infrastructure to make cross-border electric travel even smoother.
She also emphasized the importance of empowering Africa’s youth and start-ups, and leveraging the African Continental Free Trade Agreement to make EVs more affordable and accessible across the continent.
Watch the video to learn her take on what the best mechanism to become self-reliant in the e-mobility sector is.
