MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Lavrov and US Secretary of State Rubio held a phone conversation on Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said. They discussed possible concrete steps in the interest of implementing the understandings reached during the negotiations between Putin and Trump, according to the ministry.
It is impossible to postpone something that has not been agreed upon, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said on Tuesday, commenting on the alleged postponing of a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Earlier in the day, CNN reported, citing a White House official, that the meeting between Lavrov and Rubio expected this week had been postponed for now.

"We cannot postpone something that has not been agreed upon. We have not confirmed what some Western sources wrote yesterday. We had no clear understanding of the timing and location of such contact," the diplomat told reporters.

The possible future meeting between Lavrov and Rubio requires preparation because of the high significance of such an event, the deputy foreign minister added.
Russia will continue to face Western propaganda, he said, stressing that the issue of a meeting between Lavrov and Rubio was not raised during their phone conversation on Monday.
