Russian Troops Recover US-Made M113 Armored Vehicle, Return It to Service in Donetsk

The armored personnel carrier (APC) was initially disabled by a mine, a driver from a recovery unit of the "South" battlegroup said in an interview with Sputnik, describing the complex operation.

The team had to cut a path through a wooded area and navigate trench lines to reach the damaged vehicle, the driver said.

After hooking it up, they extracted the APC with a Ukrainian mechanic still inside. The mechanic was subsequently handed over to Russian medics.

Following the recovery, Russian technicians at a repair plant repaired the vehicle. The driver confirmed that the M113 is now "fully operational" and back in service on the Russian side.
