Madagascar: President Michael Randrianirina Unveils Priorities for Country's Recovery
"The issue that sparked this popular movement... is the lack of electricity and the lack of water. So what we’re going to do is find a way, a partner who can assist us in the short term and as quickly as possible," the new Madagascan leader told Sputnik Africa in his first international interview since taking power.
The massive protests that broke out in the country at the end of September led to the fall of Andry Rajoelina. Colonel Randrianirina was appointed head of the new government on October 17 by the High Constitutional Court.
