In a major two-week operation across the oil-rich Niger Delta region, the army confiscated more than 290,000 liters of illicitly obtained petroleum products, the Nigerian Army announced.
From October 6 to 19, the joint military operation seized numerous vessels and trucks involved in smuggling stolen crude oil and refined products, according to the acting deputy director of public relations for the 6th Army Division, Lt. Col. Danjuma Jonah Danjuma.
Military officials praised the troops' accomplishments, yet emphasized the need for sustained vigilance amid ongoing efforts to combat criminal activity associated with crude oil theft in Nigeria's southern regions.
