Ethiopia’s Foreign Minister Heads to Moscow for High-Level Talks & Tech Tour on Monday–Tuesday: Embassy
Gedion Timothewos is expected to hold a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, on Tuesday, a source in Ethiopia’s embassy in Russia told Sputnik.
The trip also includes other diplomatic meetings and a visit to Skolkovo, Russia’s premier innovation hub, the source noted.
This visit continues a period of sustained, high-level engagement between the two nations:
🟠In late September, PM Abiy Ahmed attended Moscow’s World Atomic Week Forum, met President Putin, and invited him to Addis Ababa; the two sides also signed an action plan for Ethiopia’s nuclear power project.
🟠In February, the Russian parliament's upper house chair, Valentina Matvienko, met Ethiopia’s president and PM, delivering Putin’s warm greetings. Shared commitment to deepen bilateral and international cooperation was reaffirmed.
