The revived AAPSO will address contemporary global issues including youth engagement, climate change, artificial intelligence, and women's rights, its president told Sputnik on the sidelines of the 12th AAPSO congress in Cairo.

"We live in a turbulent world […] Peoples can create confrontations, they can create peace, they can foster development," Mohamed Orabi, a former Egyptian foreign minister, said.

Emphasizing the importance of solidarity, Orabi noted that AAPSO is currently trying to extend its work to Latin America.

In addition, AAPSO president specifically praised Russia's "strong and beneficial" participation in the initiative, noting the active role of the Russian committee.

The congress, held under the patronage of Egypt's Foreign Ministry, also addressed the situation in Gaza and elected new leadership.
