Egyptian President Denounces Global 'Selectivity & Double Standards,' Calls for UN Reform
At the opening of the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi condemned the international community’s "failure and incapacity" to address major humanitarian crises.
El-Sisi stated Africa bears the brunt of these failures, facing intensified conflicts, development challenges, and climate threats.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty echoed this stance, urging reform of global institutions—including the UN Security Council and international financial bodies—to better reflect contemporary realities and the aspirations of the Global South.
The forum, under the theme "A World in Flux, A Continent in Motion," also focused on the crisis in Sudan, where Egypt emphasized the need for a Sudanese-led political solution and a permanent ceasefire.
