Red Sea & Nile Access Crucial for Ethiopia's National Survival & Strategic Autonomy: Institute

Ethiopia's prosperity is fundamentally tied to the Red Sea and Nile Basin, the country's Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA) emphasized, stating that access is a matter of "identity, reconciliation, and historical continuity."

The declaration came during a strategic conference in Samara, the capital of Afar Region, focused on the "Nile-Red Sea Nexus," according to ENA.

IFA Executive Director Jafar Bediru announced an end to decades of silence on Red Sea geopolitics, noting that Ethiopia's "power and vision expand" as it approaches the sea.

The forum also revealed ongoing efforts to reorganize Ethiopia's navy into a modern, capable force to support national interests.

The conference, which aimed to integrate both water systems into Ethiopia's strategic agenda, was attended by senior government and military officials, ENA noted.
