PAPSS & BRICS: Sudan Seeks to Expand Local Currency Trade in Africa & Beyond, Minister States

The Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS) will not only simplify trade but also enhance economic stability, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim Mohamed, Sudan’s Minister of Finance, emphasized.

“With PAPSS [...] we pay with our own currencies. This, of course, will bring about stability of the exchange rate, definitely, and brings stability of the whole economy, and then you will expand trade between African countries. So, that's what we are trying to do in Africa, and also between Africa and other countries, mainly with BRICS countries, we think we can do that as well,” he told Sputnik Africa.
