DRC & M23 Rebels Sign Doha Agreement to Establish Ceasefire Monitoring Mechanism: Qatar's MFA
"The mechanism will oversee the implementation of the permanent ceasefire, investigate and verify reported violations, and communicate with relevant parties to prevent a resumption of hostilities," the Qatari foreign ministry said in a statement.
Qatar, the US, and the African Union will observe the mechanism, which Qatar hailed as a "pivotal step" toward peace.
The agreement follows a July ceasefire agreement aimed at permanently ending the conflict in eastern DRC.
