Russia One of Main Suppliers of Food to Global Market, Putin Says
Russia will keep supporting the growth of its agricultural sector, enhancing both competitiveness and technological independence, the president stated in a video address on Russian Agricultural Workers' Day.
"Our high-quality products—grain, vegetable oils, fish, confectionery, and other goods—are known and appreciated in more than 160 countries worldwide," Putin noted.
Between January and August 2025, Russia shipped close to 11 million tonnes of agricultural goods to African nations, valued at more than $2.8 billion, according to the Center for Agricultural Export Development under the Russian Agriculture Ministry.
Grain and legume crops are Russia’s top export, with over 75 million tonnes shipped last year alone. Russia is the world’s top exporter of wheat, barley, and buckwheat and also ranks second globally for exports of peas and chickpeas.
