Madagascar's President Remains in Country, Reports Say
Andry Rajoelina remains in the country despite reports to the contrary, a Malagasy news portal reported, citing the communique of the chancellery.
Rajoelina, as well as the country's Prime Minister Ruphin Zafisambo, works on coordination of national affairs, the report noted.
On Saturday, a French magazine claimed, citing its own sources, that the president had left the capital city of Antananarivo amid protests.
In late September, thousands of young people took to the streets in Antananarivo against power and water cuts in Madagascar.
Authorities are open to dialogue with the protesters, Rajoelina had repeatedly said.
