Turkey Considering Possible Deployment of Troops to Gaza Strip, Ruling Party Says
Turkey's Foreign Ministry, Defense Ministry, and intelligence agencies are currently reviewing the details, Abdullah Guler, leader of the parliamentary group of Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party said.
"The framework of this agreement will be determined [...], taking into account the specifics, situation, and timing, after which a proposal will be put forward and an assessment will be conducted", he told a state Turkish broadcaster.
Once the details are finalized, the president’s decision to send Turkish troops to Gaza could be submitted to parliament for approval, he added.
"It is too early, we are at the very beginning of events," Guler said.
US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that Tel Aviv and Hamas agreed to a first-phase peace plan where Israeli hostages will be released, Israeli troops will withdraw within Gaza, and Palestinian prisoners will be freed.
