Colonizers Drew Africa’s Borders 'With a Ruler,' Recalls Lavrov

"The colonizers didn't care who was on the left or right of this straight line. They divided the ethnic groups: Rwanda-Burundi, Hutus-Tutsis," explained the Russian Foreign Minister during an interview with RT.

The African Union later determined that these borders could not be easily altered, which seems to be the correct stance, the minister added:

"But the fact is that decolonization did not lead to the total independence of Africa."
