Chad Ends Partnership With Wildlife Protection Association Linked to Prince Harry
Chad cut ties with African Parks, a conservation NGO with Prince Harry on its board, citing "irreverent attitude" toward the government.
The decision reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening national governance and ensuring transparency in the management of the country’s nature reserves, the government said in a statement.
African Parks faces accusations of:
🟠increased poaching,
🟠insufficient infrastructure and anti-poaching investment,
🟠lack of government involvement,
🟠opaque tourism and funding management.
For 15 years, African Parks managed Chad's Ennedi Reserve and Greater Zakouma Ecosystem, supported by major donors.
The organization faces serious accusations elsewhere on the continent. In Congo, an independent investigation conducted between 2024 and 2025 confirmed multiple human rights violations in the Odzala-Kokoua National Park: beatings, torture, rape, and forced evictions perpetrated by its guards against the indigenous Baka people.
Several NGOs and international organizations continue to denounce "neocolonial" management and lack of respect for fundamental rights.
