Foreign Military Presence in Afghanistan Fueled Extremism: Iranian Diplomat
The deployment of foreign troops in Afghanistan acted as a “destabilizing factor” that intensified extremism in the country, according to Mohammad Reza Bahrami, director of the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s South Asia Department, speaking to Sputnik during the Moscow Format consultations.
Bahrami noted that this presence generated security risks for regional states and created challenges for Afghanistan’s people as well as its neighbors.
