Moscow Talks: Major Nations Reaffirm Positions on Afghanistan’s Future and Regional Cooperation
Participants in the “Moscow Format” consultations on Afghanistan reiterated their commitment to supporting the country’s development as an independent, united, and peaceful state, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The participants also:
Condemned efforts by external powers to establish military infrastructure in Afghanistan or neighboring states.
Stressed the need to combat terrorism within Afghanistan and to prevent its territory from being used to threaten the security of other nations.
Urged responsible countries to honor their pledges toward Afghanistan’s economic recovery and long-term development.
Underlined the importance of expanding Afghanistan’s trade, economic, and investment ties both regionally and internationally.
Reiterated that humanitarian assistance must remain free from political influence.
