Namibia Presidency Denounces Deepfake Video of President Nandi-Ndaitwah Promoting Fake Investment Scheme
The fake AI-generated video circulating on social media falsely depicts President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah promoting an alleged investment scheme called “Namibia Money AI.”
In an official statement, the presidency clarified that “this video is fraudulent and has been artificially generated using AI technology (deepfake) to imitate the President’s image and voice.”
It stressed that the president “has no connection whatsoever to the said scheme, and the claims made in the video are entirely false.”
The presidency condemned this “malicious use of digital technology to deceive citizens, exploit the President’s image, and mislead the public for financial gain,” calling such acts unethical and criminal under Namibian law.
Citizens are urged not to share or engage with the fake video and to report it to the appropriate authorities.
