Zimbabwe Pledges $1.9 Million for Nationwide Measles-Rubella Vaccination Drive for Young Children
The drive, launched by Health Minister Douglas Mombeshora, targets all children aged 6–59 months, offering free measles-rubella vaccines and vitamin A supplements at clinics, hospitals, and outreach sites across every district.
At the launch, Mombeshora urged parents and caregivers to take their children to the nearest vaccination point and directly addressed vaccine hesitancy rooted in personal beliefs.
He emphasized that the government-sanctioned campaign is for all children, regardless of religion, cultural beliefs, or social status, and stressed that no child should be denied life-saving protection for such reasons.
