What is Known About Madagascar's New PM?
🟠Army General Ruphin Fortunat Zafisambo is the former director of the military cabinet in the Prime Minister’s office;
🟠Zafisambo reportedly studied at the Antsirabe Military Academy in 1991; then, he received his secondary military training in France;
🟠He replaces dismissed Prime Minister Christian Ntsay;
🟠Before appointing him, Rajoelina said the country needed a prime minister who could restore order and public trust, with Zafisambo’s top priority being the restoration of electricity and water supply.
Protests over water and power shortages swept through Madagascar in September, centering in Antananarivo. Despite President Rajoelina firing his cabinet, demonstrators escalated their demands, calling for the leader's resignation.
