Lesotho Marks 59 Years of Independence With Royal-Led Cleanup
King Letsie III, Queen ‘Masenate, and PM Samuel Matekane led a national cleanup and tree-planting initiative at Thaba-Bosiu—the historic cradle of the nation, once used as a hideout by the founder King Moshoeshoe I—to celebrate 59 years of independence and self-rule, the government said in a statement.
The event, attended by ministers and diplomats, featured the planting of 100 indigenous trees as a symbol of renewal and unity.
Lesotho has achieved progress in advancing peace, stability, and socio-economic development, while preserving its rich cultural heritage, AU Chairman Mahmoud Ali Youssouf commended in a statement.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also extended warm greetings to the country, wishing well-being and prosperity.
