Congo Aims to Provide Electricity to All Citizens in Next Five Years, Hydrocarbons Minister Says
To power the ambitious energy-access drive, the parliament is expected to announce new gas code in October, Bruno Jean-Richard Itoua noted at the African Energy Week conference.
The new framework, he explained, will:
🟠 Attract investment across the entire gas value chain;
🟠 Prioritize domestic gas needs—exports will only follow once national demand is met;
🟠 Expand access to clean cooking gas for households.
Additionally, Congo set a goal to increase its oil production to 500.000 bpd by 2030, up from the current 280.000, the minister stressed.
