Morocco Rocked by Youth-Led Protests — What Is Known So Far?
▪Demonstrations have reportedly taken place in dozens of cities across the country since September 27;
▪Protesters are demanding reforms to the education system and health services, local media reported;
▪The online collective Gen Z 212 is believed to be behind the mobilization;
▪Most demonstrators are young people aged 18 to 22;
▪Administrative buildings, banks, and shops have been looted or vandalized in several cities in the Souss region, as well as in Oujda, according to the Interior Ministry spokesperson;
▪As of Wednesday, more than 400 people had been arrested during the protests, the ministry said;
▪Two people died on Wednesday from gunshot wounds in Lqliaa. Gendarmes used their weapons to repel an attack by groups of individuals on their premises, according to the state-owned news agency.
