Mthethwa, appointed in December 2023, was dedicated to strengthening the vital partnership between South Africa and France, building on his lifelong commitment to public duty and longstanding contributions to the African National Congress, the statement said.
“I have no doubt that his passing is not only a national loss but is also felt within the international diplomatic community,” said Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola.
