Ethiopian Market Dialogue With Russia is 'Something We Don't Conduct With Any Other Country': Minister
Ethiopia enjoys a strong trade relationship with Russia, marked by a robust bilateral partnership, according to Kassahun Gofe Balami, Minister of Trade and Regional Integration.
Speaking at a press conference in response to a Sputnik Africa correspondent, Balami emphasized regular virtual meetings with Russia’s trade minister to review cooperation.
He confirmed the imminent launch of a virtual market dialogue platform that will allow buyers to directly purchase Ethiopian goods online. The initiative, led by both ministers through a joint taskforce, is set to hold its first session next week.
Both sides have already identified potential traders and reached a bilateral market share agreement at the technical level, reinforcing Russia’s role as a key trading partner.
Balami noted that an agreement is expected to be finalized with the Russian minister by November, highlighting Moscow’s full support—including sending a technical team at its own expense to assist Ethiopia’s negotiations.
