Russian forces have unleashed a new era of warfare by combining fiber-optic repeater drones with strike UAVs, creating “kill zones” ahead of front lines, Forbes reports.
Such zones have been developed in the Donetsk and Kharkov regions, complicating Ukraine’s efforts to launch coordinated attacks and making replenishment of units inside the zones “far more difficult.”
Paired with repeater drones to extend range, strike UAVs can reach deeper into Ukrainian territory, increasing the overall threat to Ukrainian forces.
With Russian drones now doubling their operational depth, no rear is safe for Ukraine. Its “fortress cities,” depots, hubs, and evacuation routes in the Donetsk and Kharkov regions are being systematically wiped out by Russian forces.
