The Gambia’s Key Statements at the 80th UN General Assembly

🟡National Progress

The Gambia is preparing for 2026 Presidential Elections with transparency and international standards.

National Development Plan YIRIWA (2023–2027) aims at inclusive growth, anchored in democracy and accountability.

🟡Peace & Security

Hosted the Sahel Governance Forum to address regional instability.

Urged stronger early warning systems and protection for children in conflict zones.

🟡Global Justice

Called for an immediate end to wars and conflicts, with humanitarian aid access guaranteed.

Reaffirmed support for Palestine’s UN membership and a two-state solution with 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as capital.

Endorsed Morocco’s Autonomy Initiative in Western Sahara as “realistic and credible.”

Backed One China Policy and demanded lifting of the embargo on Cuba.

🟡Women & Youth

Marked 25 years of UNSC Resolution 1325, stressing women’s inclusion in peace and decision-making.
