DRC Will Not Auction Off Its Mineral Resources to US Despite Its Support in Conflict Mediation: President Earlier, the Trump administration expressed eagerness to end deadly fighting this year and attract billions in Western investment to a resource-rich region, with a deal implementation deadline this month. DRC Will Not Auction Off Its Mineral Resources to US Despite Its Support in Conflict Mediation: President
Earlier, the Trump administration expressed eagerness to end deadly fighting this year and attract billions in Western investment to a resource-rich region, with a deal implementation deadline this month.
"We will, as part of this partnership, be working in the development of the mining sectors, developing the value chain, developing infrastructure with a particular emphasis on energy," DRC President Felix Tshisekedi told media on Monday.
Tshisekedi added that the country had already signed a strategic partnership with China and was currently in negotiations on a similar agreement with the US.
The US-mediated peace deal with Rwanda, signed on June 27, has not eased fighting in eastern Congo, Tshisekedi said, but he thanked President Trump for his efforts.
