Abuja Denies US Claims of Transparency Lack in Nigerian Public Procurement
The position voiced in a recent US Department of State report is focusing on the past, but not on the current situation, Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement Adebowale Adedokun stated.
“Nigeria is on the threshold of total transparency and accountability in its procurement system, including human capital development,” he noted.
With the new President Tinubu’s reforms, the procurement mechanisms implemented numerous changes, according to Adedokun:
🟠 Conducting procurement audits nationwide;
🟠 Government's procurement agencies hindrance reduction;
🟠 Civil society engagement in evaluation and monitoring;
🟠 Transition to electronic procurement;
🟠 Public contract advertisement.
