'Spectacle of Justice': Malian Official Explains AES Decision to Withdraw From ICC
The International Criminal Court is being weaponized by the West, Amadou Tiéoulé Diarra, a member of the Monitoring Committee for the Implementation of the Recommendations of the National Conference for Refoundation, told Sputnik Africa.
"It has become a matter for decision-makers at the state level. Equality before justice no longer applies. The West relies on the Court to impose discipline on African leaders."
According to him, the AES is right to want to walk away and create its own Sahelian Criminal Court:
"It is a desire for emancipation and objectivity. AES citizens will see themselves reflected in their magistrates. The AES confirms its commitment to a collective will."
