Nigeria's growing population and economic potential make the country indispensable in building a future for the African continent, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar told Sputnik Africa, speaking on Nigeria's recent recognition as a BRICS partner.
Tuggar highlighted the nation's significance as the largest African country and a major trading partner with BRICS.
"What is BRICS? BRICS is Brazil, it’s Russia, it’s India — that buys a lot of our hydrocarbons. It’s China — that we do a lot of trade with. It’s South Africa — that Nigeria championed its liberation in the 60s, 70s, and 80s," the minister stated.
