Kenya's Ruto Opens New SEZ, $3 Billion Project to Create 35,000+ Jobs

Kenya is cementing its role as Africa’s industrial powerhouse through Special Economic Zones (SEZs). President William Ruto launched on Tuesday the 2,000-acre Vipingo SEZ in Kilifi County.

Backed by predictable policies, Kenya guarantees 10 years of tax incentives and a stable investor-friendly regime, the president said.

With 38 SEZs, 111 EPZs, abundant green energy, skilled youth, and rich resources, Kenya is positioning itself as the gateway to the AfCFTA’s 1.4 billion market, while driving value addition in textiles, agro-processing, pharmaceuticals, e-mobility, and BPOs, Ruto added.

The Kenyan leader stressed that SEZs are central to the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, powering exports and making Kenya a premier global investment hub.
